Meet the Maker

Hi, I'm Janani, an avid candle lover, who resonates different scents to different situations, people and memories in my life.

Although I have a full-time job, the idea of having my own little venture, where I get to meet new people and make new memories, has been my dream, and that's how Lit Life came into existence.

Lit Life is a one-woman show - a home-based venture started off in my kitchen in June 2021, with one idea in mind: "All it takes is one scent to bring back a thousand memories".

Started in Sydney, and currently in Melbourne, I make 100% soy wax products that are sustainable, non-toxic, environment-friendly, and candles that can be reused, refilled and repurposed. With a variety of fragrances and essential oils, I've curated a collection of fragrance blends that I attribute to different real-life scenarios based on my experiences.

I'm extremely grateful for all the support I've received so far, I'm so overwhelmed and always finding new ways to create more lit-ness for everyone!

You won't know it unless you try it. :)

Love,

Janani

Our Wax

At Lit Life, we use locally produced, plant-based soy wax for all our products. Formed form soybean oil, soy wax candles are natural and renewable, making them a safe and sustainable option. The natural material is biodegradable so wax spills can be easily washed out. Soy wax also boasts a lengthy, clean burn.

However, soy wax tends to frost, causing a white coating on the top layer of the candle. This is a natural effect, and it does not affect the performance of the candle. â€‹

Our Fragrances

All the fragrances that we use at Lit Life, adhere to RIFM and IFRA standards for safety and purity. All the fragrances are manufactured in Australia.

Fragrance loading is a term which refers to the amount of fragrance we use in a candle compared to the amount of wax. Typically, all our candles have around 8-10% of fragrance.

Our Wicks

At Lit Life, we mainly use cotton and wood wicks. All our cotton wicks are free of heavy metals such as lead and are made from all-natural, cotton fibres, however, some will also include additional fibres or treatments to help produce different attributes. Our wooden wicks are all-natural and treated with a clean, patented burning agent.

Single wick candles result in a simple but equally beautiful look, mainly used for small candles.

Multiple wicks tend to be used on larger candles, to create a more vibrant glow. Multi-wick designs create larger pools of liquid wax, releasing a more intense fragrance.

For the candle to perform at its best, it is very important to trim the wicks before it is lit every time.
